OFIE Bids Farewell & Good Luck to Vannida!
The Office for Institutional Effectiveness bids farewell to Vannida Phommachanh on her final day with OFIE. We wish her the best of luck with her new endeavors as a fiscal officer at the University of Hawaii Cancer Research Center. While we will miss having Vannida on the OFIE team, we know the future is bright with her new endeavors!
Grant funds available for diversity projects
Grant applications for the Diversity and Equity Initiative Award are now being accepted through October 7, 2011 by the UH SEED Office. Diversity and Equity Initiative grants support University of Hawai’i diversity goals with projects that provide a more inclusive environment for students, faculty and administrators. Applicants can support these efforts with proposals that address gender, sexual orientation, disability and groups underrepresented in higher education. Proposals that serve more than one campus are strongly encouraged.
Kudos: John Rand Appointed Program Director at NSF
The National Science Foundation appointed KCC STEM Program Director John Rand as a Program Director in the Education and Human Resources Directorate for the upcoming year. Dr. Rand’s appointment will be conducted through the NSF’s prestigious Intergovernmental Personnel Agreement (IPA), through which Dr. Rand will work at NSF headquarters in Arlington, Virginia for an entire year.
OFIE recommends: UHM Grant Writing Course
A grant writing course for graduate students & professionals is being offered at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Weekly homework assignments will provide in-depth preparation for writing the various components of grant and other funding proposals.
Interested participants are encouraged to contact the course instructor regarding registration information (Dr. Douglas Vincent – Vincent@hawaii.edu), as registration will be contingent upon an override code.
New Subaward and Contracting Procedures
All new subaward agreements will be processed through the Office of Research Services (ORS) for processing (previously handled by RCUH). When submitting subaward packets to ORS for processing, please make sure to include ORS Form S-1, and ORS Forms S-2 and S-3; and the form for FAR 15.406-2, if applicable. 10th Annual Native Hawaiian Convention to include Grants & Philanthropy Sessions
On August 23-25, 2011, the 10th Annual Native Hawaiian Convention will feature sessions on grants and philanthropy for organization leaders and grant writers. There will also be break out sessions on federal contracting, business development, and other federal economic initiatives.
