Professional Development Fund

Kapi’olani Community College is committed to providing professional development opportunities to employees to encourage, reward, and commit the institution to revitalizing its workforce as an essential part of the campus mission.

Chancellor Louise Pagotto affirms this commitment by re-investing a portion of the indirect costs revenue generated by extramural programs into various revenue generating activities, including a discretionary fund for professional development. These funds are made available through the Research Training and Revolving Fund (RTRF) allocation from the Office of the Vice President for Research & Innovation and the Office of the Vice President for Community Colleges.

Campus administrators review RTRF requests at weekly Administrative Staff meetings held on Mondays. Successful applicants provide a post-training travel report summarizing how the professional development activity will increase grant capacity or support an existing grant project.
